Welcome to Amateur Bibliotherapy, my newsletter about book-y things. Use this Google Form at any time to tell me about what you’re reading—you might be featured here or on my Bookstagram! I’m an affiliate of Bookshop.org, which means that I may make a small commission if you make a purchase through my affiliate links. That commission will be donated to Welcome To Chinatown.
Long time no see. I took last week off to gallivant in the Hamptons, and I'm taking this week off because I have nothing of substance to say. I plan to devour a selection of mini le merveilleux—tiny dollops of meringue and mousse topped with shaved chocolate and, sometimes, nuts—and hibernate in peace.
I'm currently reading Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney on my e-reader, Butter Honey Pig Bread by Francesca Ekwuyasi on my phone, and The Idiot by Elif Batuman in paperback. There’s a good chance I’ll grab a few romance novels for good mesure as well. I'm also reading two very viral articles about Roe: Jia Tolentino's "We’re Not Going Back to the Time Before Roe. We’re Going Somewhere Worse" for the New Yorker and Rebecca Traister's "The Necessity of Hope" for The Cut. For those of you who are as perpetually online as I am, you may have already seen resources to support abortion funds by state, self-managed abortions, and collectives that help Americans who have to travel across the country for abortions like The Brigid Alliance. But if you aren't, or want to talk privately about any of those things, feel free to reply to this email or send me a note over your preferred platform.
Hope to see you next week.
